Have you Lonnyed yet? Yet again, this issue of Lonny did not disappoint...in fact, I think the mag is getting better and honing in on what it's great at - showing incredibly delicious interiors. It was hard to pick a favorite image, but I think this one above is wonderful. It's the home of Lonny editorial assistant Ellie Somerville - her whole NYC apartment had me captivated. I loved her mix of styles and colors - what a gorgeous place.
I am positively giddy going into this weekend because my father-in-law is coming up from South Carolina to help Carter build our fireplace mantel! Woohoo...I can't wait to get going on it! Having the fireplace up (or even started) will make such a difference in the living room. And, I have a couple of to-do items myself for this weekend to keep me busy while I'm not directing traffic on the fireplace :)
See you Monday!
I still need to go check out the new issue. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to dive into Lonny this weekend. I've been so disappointed that I haven't had time to peruse it properly this week.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't wait to see the fireplace finished!
I have a rug in my den similar to the one in the Lonny pic (not from Ikea...the real deal that was my grandmother's), and, though it's a beaut, I'm THIS close to putting it in storage and ordering something totally different. I've completely neglected this room because I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to incorporate the rug into a room with my style. Then I see pictures like this and wonder if it's a bad decision. Hmmmm.... Good luck with the mantel!!!
ReplyDeleteJo, I usually like oriental rugs when they are used as a contrast to the rest of the room, like this picture. My vote would be to decorate your room however you want with furniture and pieces to your taste and maybe only look to the rug for some color inspiration - but the fact that its style will "stick out" in constrast to your own might be a positive, and you get to show off an heirloom from your granny :)
ReplyDeletep.s. And by color inspiration, I mean a pillow here or a throw there. Not paint or upholstery colors, if it doesn't suit. Even the smallest detail that repeats the color scheme of the rug can help tie it in if the rest of the decor contrasts. Ok, I'm done now.
ReplyDeleteI have four of these stools at this point and could purchase more and more and more.
