Dish

Happy 2012!!

Have you seen or heard about this book, Dish?

I'm actually surprised I haven't heard more about it and I forget where exactly I saw it first, but once I realized there was a fun little tome on the subject of plates, I promptly put it on my Christmas list. And thanks to my sister-in-law and her family, I now own this wonderful book.

I started looking through it yesterday thinking that I would just look at the pretty pictures as I do with most coffee table books, but I found that it took me 30 minutes to get through the first 5 pages because I was reading the text and studying the pictures.

I think this book may need to go on my bedside table so I can actually read it and learn a little something about one of my absolute favorite subjects in design. If you are a china nut like me, pick it up because I know you'll love it!

In other news, see that Tobacco Leaf patterned plate in the center of the bottom row in the pic above? Tobacco Leaf patterns are among my favorites because they are so colorful. Well, among my other loot scored this holiday season was a vase just like this one:

My mother-in-law had tried to sell it in her yard sale for $8 and no one bought it! Can you believe it? So she gave it to me and I can't wait to put it on display...bonus!

Hope your new year is off to a good start!

  1. Well, I am certain that you want to keep it "in the family" but should you change your mind I will be most happy to take it off your hands! I NEVER see great stuff like that in a yard sale around here! Very nice!!!

  2. I love artistic dishes. Your eating your food and someone makes a comment about it. Such a unique form of art. All my dishes at my house are painted. Who wants plain white dishes? That is boring.
