Three Takes on Chinoiserie
I enjoyed this post from One Kings Lane's blog on Chinoiserie. Three of our favorite designers - Bunny Williams, Ruthie Sommers and Grant Gibson - share short sound bites on my favorite design style.

I think Ruthie's style of "Elegant and Eclectic" is most similar to my own. How amazing is that styled console pictured above? Her use of varying heights, colors and textures makes the vignette so rich and interesting.

Melissa Rufty Toile Bathroom
So this gem is not new, but it was new to me when I came across this stunning bathroom by Melissa Rufty in January's Southern Living...
Photo by Laurey W. Glenn, Styling by Matthew Gleason, via Southern Living
I'm going to assume that it's the companion to this bedroom that uses the same tangerine + pink color combo pulled from that Manuel Canovas wallpaper...so lovely. The pink cabinetry really works here...a neutral color would not have given the same impact. The risk paid off! And the floor tile is such a great detail. But of course my favorite detail is the monogrammed towels.
This effect of impactful wallpaper and colored cabinetry would work great in a small powder room, don't you think? Wish I had one to try it out on.

Kelly Wilson Monogrammed Antique China
Standing in the supermarket checkout line, I came across Kelly Wilson Antiques in a magazine. This savvy Texan lady has created a line of monogrammed china that brands your favorite initial on a beautiful antique piece of tableware. It's brilliant. It's the Leontine Linens of the china world.
I always come across lonesome plates whose pattern I love, but as a single plate, I don't really see the purpose of purchasing. But Kelly has adopted these loner pieces and given them new love with a GORGEOUS letter...instant personalized keepsakes. These plates make great heirloom baby or wedding gifts.
Kelly's site offers plates that are already monogrammed or you can pick the blank plate first and then get a custom letter done. I bet if you had a treasured plate in your home you could also ship it off to her and she'd work it out.

Almost Back
Well hello!
Ana Claire turned one month this past Sunday...and of course the time has flown.
I have three or four blog posts floating around in my head and I'm eager to get them onto virtual paper. Ana Claire is a chill baby but it's still a little tricky getting some two-handed computer time in. And I can't lie that I've loved my mini break from the realities of daily life...but I'm feeling the itch to get back in the saddle.
So this is me checking in...hope you've been doing great. I'll be back with fresh posts soon!
XO
