The lines are so straight and clean. Nothing too jumbly and geometric. This is the kind of table that will see so many iterations of your home and never skip a beat. I feel like I'm always looking for these more petite consoles...glad to add this one to my Rolodex.
WE also carries it in a nightstand...works just as well in a smaller, bedroom-friendly version:
What do you think of this take on fretwork?
I've never been in a West Elm store--they do have real stores, right?--but I really like this table and its barely-there nod to Chnoiserie, as filtered through a tailored, late-1930s aesththetic. Francis Elkins might have used such a subdued design--think Zellerbach house--and she would have definitely preferred this discreet finish to a shiny lacquer one. Of the two, though I like the ratio of ornament-to-frame better on the nightstand version. Either way, since I don't get West Elm's catalog, I would never have even known about this handsome design if you hadn't posted it. Thanks for the heads-up.
