Etsy Shop Indigo Home

I just came across the most delightful Etsy shop based out of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia called Indigo Home.

The owner creates monogrammed eggs....I didn't know these were a thing. Where has my monogrammed egg been all my life?

Perched on a girly vanity, these eggs are simply precious (Mother's Day gift alert). The shop specializes in custom watercolor and pen/ink illustrated gifts and I'm happy to report many of her items have a solid Chinoiserie flair.

Like these pagodas for your pets! Bowls and a treat canister...so cute:

The shop has Christmas ornaments, stationary and other sweet items...and I'm sure she creates lovely custom items by request. Check everything out here...

Shout out to Virginia talent!

Classic Cowhide Rugs

I can appreciate a good cowhide rug in a room, but they are often a little too trendy for me. But I love their textural, organic appeal.

And then I spotted these rugs and all forces combine to create the perfect hide rug - texture, pattern and a gorgeous classic, neutral quality that makes them timeless.

That top chevron/herringbone situation is out of this world! Can you imagine in your living room? So chic! And I adore the soft palette of whites, ivories, and grays. These may not be great in a high traffic area, but if you have a space where form trumps function, these are total beauties.

Friday Crush

Photo by Francesco Lagnese for Traditional Home

Tell me this space was on your radar this week. I saw it pop up a couple of times and each time, my eyes bugged out in a good way. By Tilton Fenwich, I think the color combination is especially arresting. This, THIS, is how you do color and pattern. I can't stop staring.

I'm noticing a pattern of having nothing exciting on the weekends to tell you about. Hope that's not the case on your end...Have a great weekend and see you next week!

Affordable Linen Chair

I have wanted to replace the mismatched chairs in our living room since we moved in to this house - so at least 5 years. But buying two arm chairs will cost a pretty penny and this house has needed so many other things that we never find room for the large purchase.

Not to mention that the chairs I love are always unfriendly to a modest budget. Occasionally, I spot a retail chair that has a look I like with a price I can afford, like this adorable linen (blend) chair from World Market:

I don't think you often find chairs at retail that have a detailed silhouette like this. Arched back, tufts, rolled arms, turned legs...you're getting some style here. And the fabric is totally neutral and workable. And for $300 (which you could probably whittle down with a coupon) I think getting a pair wouldn't break the bank and you also wouldn't feel wedded to them FOREVER. Don't get me wrong - I'm usually more on the side of spend high and keep forever but sometimes that's just not in the cards...amiright?

For our budget, I find that going vintage and reupholstering will likely be the way to achieve the look I want but I do have this sweet little chair in my back pocket now. Assuming we pull the trigger on new chairs this century...not holding my breath.

Red Pagoda Lantern Under $200

Starting your week with a hot tip for an amazing red pagoda lantern that I spotted on zulily over the weekend:

And it's under $200! It's also big coming in at 32" in height. TOTAL showstopper in any room if your ceilings can handle it.

If you're a parent, you're likely a zulily shopper, but if you aren't, you can join here:

www.zulily.com/invite/pagodalantern

It's a flash sale site that takes my money on a daily basis - mostly with kids clothes but I occasionally spot gems like this one. Do tell me if you purchase it!

Friday Crush

Snakes on plates! This table by Ashley Whittaker featuring Quadrille fabric stunned me on Instagram yesterday. I am a big lover of navy with lavender and the additional mix of bright spring green and SNAKES made this table completely delightful. A gorgeous morsel of eye candy to start your weekend...

Ana Claire has lately been obsessed with the concept of picnics, particularly having a picnic on the rug in her room at bedtime (stalling tactic, perhaps?) If the weather is nice this weekend, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a real picnic and make all of her dreams come true. Hope you have equally exciting plans...see you next week!

Check Fabric on Sale

Few things bring as much joy to my heart as a piece of furniture upholstered in checks. Gingham, buffalo, bright, neutral - whatever the flavor, the geometric statement virtually always looks amazing. It was my personal choice for Ana Claire's nursery chair (pink buffalo check with red trim) and I have never looked back.

That's all to tell you that I saw a good check printed fabric online for a great price - budget-friendly enough to bring it into the 12-yard realm needed to upholster that old sofa. But first, some inspiration:

And now the on-sale fabric - Premier Prints Anderson in a variety of colors - all for under $10/yd - on fabric.com:

That Aloe color (#2) is amazing. I want it. I'm actively fighting the impulse to buy and hoard as I don't need it now but I'm SURE I'd have the perfect way to use it in the future. Right?

W.I.L.A.T.S.

That stands for "What I Love About This Space":

Home of Chelsea and Greg Shukov, Design by Leslie Hunt, Photo by David Tsay for
Better Homes & Gardens, seen by me on Shelter

1) That is some wonderful small-space living. Note that in one room is their kitchen (see the counter on the left?), dining room (see the hanging pendant back-left?) and living room (the TV is on the right out of view).

2) White walls - they completely open up the space and keep it airy.

3) The anchor of neutrals is really working for me. If you take away the accents, you're left with all the foundational elements being shades of beige and khaki which I really like with the white walls. I especially love that rug.

4) That ceiling is amazing. High and architectural. If it were my space, I might leave the beams stained and not painted white for some contrast. That might look awesome, yes? But let's be clear I love the all-white look too.

5) The accent color palette of lavender and blues make the space, methinks. Especially with the khaki ground, those colors are really working for me.

What do you like about this space? See more of it here...

Friday Crush

This bedroom made my week. I spotted it on The Pink Pagoda's blog and the blueberry gingham headboard and walls are outrageously good. Once you add that layer of lavender, things teeter over to the genius side of things. I'm also a huge fan of that bedding, which I've seen for sale here. All this lovely brought to you by designer Kirsten Kelli.

Last weekend and this week have been crazy busy so I'm happy to have a free weekend coming up with not much on tap except spending time with my brood. I hope you have a fantastic weekend...see you next week!

Rainbow Reptile Art

How delightfully wonderful are these rainbow reptiles?! All are from Etsy shop twoems. These would be the cutest starting point for a little boy's room (can you see where my brain is these days?)

And these are just the tip of the iceberg. The shop, run by artist Melanie Mikecz, is FULL of colorful, whimsical art including some geometric pieces that are perfect for us grown-ups. And they are all prints, so very affordable. I love this adorable set for a little boy but there are SO many pieces that I want for our playroom. I love discovering a fantastic Etsy shop!

Check out all of Melanie's pieces here...

Easter Joy

Our Easter was joyous. The day was beautiful allowing a pause for spiritual reflection and quality time with family. And we had baskets, bonnets and so much candy.

My table was a bit last minute so it wasn't as layered as usual, but I did get some close-ups to show you the bright combination I settled on - Scalamandre's China Rose with Caspari's Garden Follies:

The kids donned their first set of matching smocked outfits and let me tell you, my heart was full:

Ana Claire's Easter bonnet (from here) was just about the most precious thing I've ever laid eyes on. My phone blew up with all the pictures I took yesterday. Indulge me for a moment:

Holidays around here are ramping up in their excitement as Ana Claire gets older. She is just a joy to watch getting excited over special celebrations (and stuffing whole chocolates into her mouth like her father). And having Mac on hand to celebrate his first holiday doubled the fun. These kids...what a gift.

Friday Crush

I'm bringing back this delightful Easter table from Olivia over at Lacquered Life. LOVE her fabric tablecloth mixed with her beautiful china. Not to mention the flower arrangement and the tiny touches of turquoise. Just beautiful.

I'm hosting Easter this year and have yet to spend two seconds thinking on menu or table. I'll be making a mad dash at all of it on Saturday. But I have been hoarding goodies for the kiddos' Easter baskets and I can't wait to put the finishing touches on them! Hope you have a wonderful weekend...see you next week!

Warm Ruggy Nursery

I fear this is one of those images that already made the internet rounds and y'all are rolling your eyes, like get with it, Daniela. Old news. But I'm willing to take that risk, I like it so much.

Designed by Amber Interiors, it oozes California cool. And like this room, I can't take my eyes off the rug.

Photo by Tessa Neustadt via Domaine Home

I LOVE the style, although admittedly, it's not my own. But elements of it I would snag for myself like the rug juxtaposed with white walls and the warm wood furnishings. I also love the basket as a hamper (we use a similar one for Ana Claire).

Were you wondering where my post was about Mac's nursery design board? Because there wasn't one. Because the little nugget doesn't have a nursery. Right now, he's rooming with me and C with the eventual hope that he can move in with Ana Claire (after we de-girly the room just a little bit).

Our house is such that if we give Mac his own nursery, Carter and I will need to move into one of the rooms downstairs and we don't like that idea. We much prefer to cozy up the kids in one room upstairs with us in the other. Not sure Ana Claire will be down with the sharing idea...cross that bridge when we come to it.

So poor Mac is a nomad. But I do like to dream about what his eventual room will look like - be it a nursery or a big boy room. And this pic is going in the inspiration folder.

Catalog Pick: Pagoda Patio Furniture

Technically, the collection is called Glen Isle Seating in White but Pagoda Patio Furniture sounds better to me. Whatever the name, this outdoor collection from Frontgate is what Chinoiserie patio dreams are made of.

Look at those backs!

Love the bright combos shown in the styling photos. Like most things catalog, I'm not sure I would get every single piece but the chairs and loveseat/sofa are bangin'. Mix up the tables and accents to bring it down a notch and your patio will be crazy chic. It also happens to be crazy expensive, but those are minor details.
