We spent the holiday visiting my in-laws in South Carolina. Every morning, I put sugar in my coffee using the most delicate, lovely sugar spoon (per my mother-in-law's attention to detail). It was a daily delight.
I'm going into 2016 with that mindset. Make the little things delightful. The big stuff is hard to tackle. But can I pull out my pretty sugar spoon for morning coffee? Absolutely.
If you, like me, are in the roof-over-your-head-food-on-your-table demographic, we have a lot to be thankful for. And the big resolutions are important as we all want to make the most of this blessed life we are living. So I'm setting some lofty goals, but I also want to set some small goals to achieve this afternoon.
I'm looking for daily delight in 2016 for me and for my family. With an ever-present gratitude for what we have and what we can hope to have.
You're welcome for getting heavy with the first 2016 post. I had a nice little vacation over the holidays and feel refreshed and ready to enjoy 2016 and all of the design loveliness it will offer. Hope you are too!
p.s. Those darling spoons above are on Etsy here...
It's the small things of life that delight us - no need to wait for the big event! A few months ago I found a beautiful set of vintage silver plate in pristine condition at an estate sale. Even though I didn't know what I'd do with it, it was too beautiful to pass up. It occurred to me that I could recycle my everyday set of stainless and use the silver plate. What fun that has been! Every time I open the drawer and see all those pretty pieces I'm as happy as a clam. Having to polish the forks every so often is worth the pleasure of using it daily!
ReplyDeleteI always use my "good" china and my silver. What am I waiting for? If it's good enough to use for special occasions, it's good enough for cereal and coffee!
ReplyDeletebeautifully said, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteDear Daniela, it is the little things, those small special touches that make our lives a touch above!! Thank you!

I really like this as a resolution. I'm breaking out the good china as well. Let's splurge on those little things daily. Might as well, right?
